Overview

LearnCube's pricing page can display 3 - 6 plans (we recommend 3 plans to avoid prospects feeling overwhelmed with choice).

If you'd like to use LearnCube's payment gateway so that students can easily pay for their classes, you'll need to follow a few simple steps. We'll send over a payment gateway form to help you get things configured.

Here's a quick video explaining how the payment gateway works:

Plan types

You can choose to offer two types of plans, either:

  1. Top-up plans (e.g. purchase a package of 10 classes)

  2. Subscription plans (e.g. subscribe and get 10 classes every month)

Plan descriptions and pricing page

We do not provide a blend of top-up and subscriptions.

As an online school customer, you can change these attributes based on your request:

  • Name of Plan

  • Total amount (e.g. 1 class > $20 | 5 classes > $97)

  • Billing cycle (one-off or monthly subscription)

  • Payment type (e.g. One-off purchase)

  • Description

See below for examples of a the pricing page. The layout is not customisable but the above attributes are.

Payment options:

We work with the two most popular and user-friendly payment options:

  1. If you don't already have them, you'll need to set up a Stripe or PayPal account.

  2. If you're using Stripe, we'll need the API keys to connect Stripe and LearnCube. You can find information on providing the keys here. Add the keys to the payment gateway form.

  3. Additionally, you'll need to add a setting to your Stripe account in the form of a webhook. We have information on how to do that here.

  4. You'll need to decide which currency you want to use and add that to the form. Just make sure it's a supported currency.

How payments work for your students

If the student is logged in, they will be able to choose the plan they want and their preferred payment method. Once they make the payment, their credits will be automatically added to their account and they will be able to book classes.

Note that you have 100% control over your account with each of these payment methods.  The money goes into your associated Stripe or PayPal account, and LearnCube does not take any commission or transfer fees.

LearnCube simply provides the integration so that when a user purchases a plan, the student's class credits are automatically updated.

Please note: We do not provide invoicing at this stage. Generally, the few customers who do not take payments directly, use their own accounting software, e.g., Xero or Reckon.

Booking Flow Requirements

When deciding whether to use LearnCube's built-in payment gateway, there are some limitations to consider. If in doubt, we recommend reaching out to your LearnCube sales or support rep, who will be able to advise you on the best setup for your particular needs.

  • Students must have a way to self-book classes.
The payment gateway allows students to purchase credits automatically, but if they can't actually use those credits, it will result in frustration.

  • Within the school, one credit equals one class. You can only differentiate between two types of credits: Credits for private classes and for group classes.
That means it will not be possible to charge $10 for a 1:1 general English class and $15 for a 1:1 business English class, for example, as there would be no way to tell these credits apart once purchased.

  • Classes must have the same duration.
When self-booking, there is a standard length for all classes. This means that it is not possible to offer 30min and 60min classes, for example.

  • It's not possible to have both one-off and standard subscription plans.
Credits purchased on standard subscription plans expire on the renewal date. If used in combination with one-off plans, the one-off credits may be wiped from the student's account too.

Although these limitations do mean that some booking flows are not possible using LearnCube's payment gateway, there are many known and proven workarounds that you can use. If you are unsure whether your chosen booking flow is possible, please don't hesitate to reach out to your LearnCube rep, who will be able to set a meeting to discuss your needs in more detail.

Can I Still Take Manual Payments?

Yes, even if you are using the payment gateway, you can still accept payments by other means and add and manage credits manually.
