Who is the API designed for?
This is a great option for organisations that have an experienced developer as a core member of the team.
Our API will then be simple to integrate and maintain.
Typically our API customers are large, established online educators that are switching from Skype, Zoom or Adobe Connect to opt for a more professional, branded learning experience with better insights into what is happening in their classes.
How fast is LearnCube API to integrate?
We have one of the easiest API's to implement. We tend to find our customers take 2 - 6 hours to implement our API documentation.
Can I customise the virtual classroom?
Yes. You can add your logo and use your own domain so you can better promote your company brand.
What are the features of the virtual classroom?
Our virtual classroom comes will all the features your teachers might need to run the most effective online class possible. Find out more by clicking here or searching through our knowledge base.
How many classes can I run at the same time?
LearnCube provides unlimited concurrency. You can run as many concurrent classes as you like.
Is LearnCube's API scaleable?
We are already working with some of the largest online language schools on the planet. We have a robust, scaleable infrastructure to serve even the largest enterprise customers.
How do you price your API?
We specialise in online tutoring and teaching. To provide the most transparent pricing possible, we charge by the (private or group) "class hour".
We count by the minute and translate this into an hour figure so you know exactly how much you're using the virtual classroom each month.
e.g 6000 minutes is 100 hours.
What is a "class hour"?
A class hour is 60 minutes of teaching time
We only start the clock when there is more than 1 participant in the class so you're not charged for teacher prep time before the class when it's just the teacher in the class.
Can I deliver private 1:1 classes and group classes?
Yes. You can use private classes for individual tutoring (1 teacher, 1 student) or deliver group classes (our experience has shown that groups of 3 students offer the best learning experience).
Why is there a price difference between private and group classes?
To ensure the most reliable classroom possible, we employ third parties that specialise in the delivery of live video and audio. They charge us based on the number of minutes of live video we deliver on our customers behalf.
A private class has just two videos to optimise (1 teacher + 1 student x 1 student attending).
For small group classes, the number of video streams are multiplied by the number of students attending (i.e. 1 teachers + 5 student video x 5 students attending). Unfortunately, this makes a group class exponentially more expensive, the more students that attend a class.
How many students can I teach in a group class?
Our experience has shown that groups of 3 students offer the best learning experience. However, groups of 3 - 6 are still possible.
We will also be developing a webinar-style classroom in late 2018 to enable more functional larger group classes.
How can I manage my own class content/library/file repository?
We link to your own bucket via AWS so you can provide instant access to your content library for all teachers, but only if they are inside the virtual classroom.
Is this optimised for mobile devices or tablets?
Our experience in online teaching has proven that students learn much faster by using a desktop or laptop computer, mainly because there is more space available for the whiteboard and the students is typically in a quieter, more focused environment.
Tablets and iPads are very legitimate education tool so the classroom is very responsible and designed with that use-case in mind.
Smaller mobile devices require a very different approach. Not only do they have a limited screen size (limiting the interact on a whiteboard) but the content must also be designed differently (a pdf designed for a full screen computer will often be unusable on mobile device).
Which programming languages or systems is the LearnCube compatible with?
Our API is REST based so is language agnostic. If you've a system in wordpress, java, php, etc ... it all works.
