Welcome to LearnCube!

Our award-winning Virtual Classroom is the perfect tool for delivering live online classes for languages and other academic subjects.

This Getting Started guide will help you to set up your account, test the classroom, and start teaching classes!

Table of Contents

1 - Your Teacher Dashboard

You can access your teacher dashboard by logging in with your username and password here.

From your dashboard, you can:

  1. Change your account & profile settings - upgrade plan, logo, colours, profile picture, etc.

  2. Depending on your plan (free, PRO, PRO ESL) you will see some high-level metrics on your account.

  3. View and manage class materials in your content library.

  4. View and manage classes in your upcoming classes section.

  5. Access past class notes and analytics in your past classes section.

  6. Click this button to create new classrooms (these create unique 'direct' links to share with students).

  7. Edit the schedule and class details.

  8. Copy the class link to send to your students.

  9. Enter classrooms easily with one click from the dashboard.

  10. Speak with our customer support team for help and advice.

2 - Create Your First Class

Creating the class

To create a class, click on the Create Class button.

A new classroom will be generated, scheduled to occur right away.

To change the start time and class details, click Edit.

When you click Enter class, you will be entering the class as a teacher.

Equipment checks

When entering a classroom, you will quickly go through some tests that double-check that your mic, camera, and browser* are in order. This will flag any technical issues and helps avoid confusion and frustration for you and your students.

The first time you (or your student) enter a LearnCube classroom, you will be asked for permission to access your microphone and camera. Be sure to click "allow" or "permit".

*Note: While LearnCube works with almost every web browser, to get the best experience, we recommend Google Chrome on a computer. If you're using an iPhone or iPad though, you'll need to use Safari (it's an Apple thing).

3 - Explore the Virtual Classroom

When you create a new account, you will already have a class on your dashboard.

This class contains some useful tips and tricks, as well as tutorial videos, so we recommend checking it out. :)

Before testing the classroom in a class with a real student, we recommend taking some steps to familiarise yourself with how everything works.

On our YouTube channel, we have this video training playlist, which explains all of the Virtual Classroom tools and features in detail:

For now, though, these simple steps should help you to get the hang of things:

  1. Open a new whiteboard by clicking on the "+" icon

  2. Click on the blue pencil button to test out the annotation tools.
You can draw, and add text and shapes.

  3. Upload a few lesson materials (e.g. PDF or YouTube).

  4. Enter the classroom as a student by opening the class URL in an incognito window.

4 - How to Invite a Student

Student Invite Link

To invite a student (or even just a friend) to try out the Virtual Classroom, click on the Student Link to share via email or you can send a calendar invite to your student by clicking the Add to Calendar button.

If you're wondering what it's like for your students, you can read more about the student experience here.

Welcoming new students

Before their first class using LearnCube, it's a good idea to give your student some basic information. The most important step is for new students to run our troubleshooter tool* so that any potential equipment or connection issues will be flagged, and you can avoid them having a frustrating first experience.

Below you will find some useful phrases you can use to make a template welcome email:

When it's time for your class, simply click on the link I send you, and you will enter the Virtual Classroom.

I recommend using one of these browsers - Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari version 11+

If you are using an iOS device (iPad or iPhone), you must use Safari only.

In your first class, you will be asked for permission for your camera and mic.

On the popup window, make sure to click "Allow" or "Share".

You can connect to the classroom from a phone or tablet, but I do recommend a laptop or desktop for the best experience.

I strongly recommend using headphones or earphones for better sound quality.

If you like, you can use this troubleshooter tool to test your computer before your first class.

If you have any problems passing the equipment checks please don’t hesitate to contact me, and I will try to help.

5 - Update Your Logo and Colour Scheme

The Virtual Classroom Pro plan allows you to customise your classroom's appearance to suit your brand. You can add your own logo* to replace the LearnCube one and also update the colour palette.

Important: Before uploading your logo to the platform, please ensure that the filename does not include any spaces or special characters.

6 - Your Lesson Materials Library

Your lesson materials library allows you to upload files which you can access again quickly and easily in class.

From your dashboard, you can click on "Content Library" to upload, manage, and delete files.

You can also upload lesson materials inside the classroom.

To load lesson materials into a class, click on the green "+" button on the bottom right of the whiteboard.

This article goes into more detail on how to find and manage files in your library.

7 - Past Classes

You can find details about all of your past classes by clicking on the "Past Classes" tab.

The Class Review button will open up all of the notes and materials from that class, as well as some useful data and analytics. You can share the class review link with your students so that they will be able to revise what you studied.
