How to authorise your camera and microphone in the Virtual Classroom.

Because LearnCube works inside your browser, you and your students will be asked for permission to access the webcam and microphone.
This happens the first time a user enters a class or runs the troubleshooter tool on a new device, and the settings are then saved, so you don't have to do it every time.

It's important that students and teachers are aware that they should always click "yes" or "allow" when asked for permission to access the mic and camera.

If you do deny permission, this can cause some issues:

  • If you deny camera permission, your camera will always be disabled in class.

  • If you deny mic permission, you may not be able to enter the class at all.

Don't worry though, there's an easy solution!

To fix this problem, simply change the permission settings on your browser.

Changing permission settings on Google Chrome

On Google Chrome, you will see a settings icon to the left of the URL.

When you click on it, you will see buttons beside camera and microphone, which allow you to toggle permission on and off.

Changing permission settings on Mozilla Firefox

On Firefox, you'll see a settings icon to the left of the URL.
When you click on this you can view the permission settings for this page, and remove your previous choices.

Then, re-enter the class, and you should be asked for permission again.

When you click allow, it's important to also tick the box marked "Remember this decision".
